Once upon a time in the picturesque countryside of England an American couple embarked on a remarkable adventure. They had always dreamed of exploring the grandeur of historic castles and immersing themselves in the charm of English heritage. Their dream was about to come true because of an unexpected gift from Belmond. They planned to take the Belmond British Pullman Train to visit none other than the magnificent Highclere Castle.

On a bright sunny morning, the couple arrived at London’s Victoria Train Station, filled with anticipation and excitement. There it was. The Belmond British Pullman Train was right there. It was a sight of elegance adorned with lavish decorations and polished brass. They stepped onto the platform, where the train’s staff warmly welcomed them aboard.

Once settled into their plush coupe the train set off with a gentle jolt. They were now travelling through the beautiful English countryside. The rhythmic chugging of the engine lulled them into a state of tranquility. They gazed out of the window, admiring the rolling green hills and quaint villages passing by.

Inside the train car Zena, they were enveloped by an atmosphere of sophistication. Crystal glassware sparkled in the soft light as elegantly dressed waitstaff offered a delectable Brunch starting with an ice-cold Seasonal Bellini accompanied by freshly baked English pastries. The couple indulged in Battersea Brunch Bowl of fresh berries, homemade granola, whipped yogurt and tangerine syrup followed by a Royal Filet of Smoked Salmon, tea and coffee. The couple explored the different carriages of the train after finishing their scrumptuous Brunch. They ventured into the Art Deco-inspired bar carriage. The glimmering mirrored walls and classic cocktails skillfully mixed by the bartender added to the mystique.

Thatcham

Highclere Castle is also a private residence

As the train approached Thatcham in Parish of West Berkshire, their anticipation grew. Subsequently, after disembarkation they drove about 8 miles through the splendid English countryside to Highclere Castle. Standing proudly amid the acres of lush greenery, the castle boasted medieval architecture that told stories of a glorious past.

Highclere Castle

The couple relied on their excellent guide during the tour of the castle and the grounds. For example, he lead them through the castle’s opulent halls, kitchen too. Together they marveled at the intricate tapestries. The guide was helpful in explaining the collection of fine art that adorned the walls because of his background. All the while they were thinking of the multiple episodes of Downton Abbey filmed here. They explored the magnificent gardens, losing themselves in the scents of vibrant flowers and the sight of perfectly manicured lawns.
