2020
The year 2020 was very different, that is for sure. 2020 had a lot of the political nonsense and covid on top of it. It was like no other year we have ever experienced. We consider ourselves very fortunate because of our good health and financial stability. That doesn’t mean we have coped well with the travel and dining constraints, both personal and professional. Our companies locked each of us down in March 2020 and still have not opened up (May 2021). Our personal travel and restaurant dining has also been affected. We have not been able to travel, or eat out anywhere, not even with family and friends. All of our trips and replacement trips were cancelled. We have been confined to the general area of our home town. Then the idea of buying a boat came to mind, A Covid Cruiser.
Our Epiphany
It was a true epiphany, leisure travel we could control, completely. Living on the Gulf Coast of Florida made the idea very palatable and reasonable. There was one problem. The Covid Cruiser needed a competent pilot. Neither one of us had ever piloted a boat before, let alone owned one. We were not deterred. In August 2020 we purchased a 32 foot SeaRay Sundancer boat. It has given us the ability to go out on the Gulf a couple of weekends each month. We have even ventured our for long weekends to southern Gulf Coast marinas. Gradually we are becoming more confident in our boating skills each time we venture forth. The most difficult challenge is still the return to our dock slip. Backing into the slip and securing the lines takes patience and focus, nothing that 10,000 Covid Cruiser trips will not cure.
Our Covid Cruiser was a good purchase, at the right time, in the right place.
